APPLE ADDS NEW MODELS

California-based Apple Computer, Inc. unveiled a spate of new computer models this week that will be introduced to the North American market. Among the new releases is the Power Macintosh 6500/300 which will run at 300 Mhz - 100 Mhz faster than the quickest 200 Mhz Intel chip. Slated for a late spring launch, the 6500/300 will include 64Mb of RAM, a 12X CD-ROM, and 4 GB hard drive. Slower 6500 versions will also be released, including 225 Mhz, 250 Mhz and 275 Mhz models. Apple will also release new additions to its multi-processor line - the 4400/200 and the 7300/180. Both are capable of running Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Apple will also go after the small business computer market by launching the Apple Small Business Macintosh series of computers. The first two models in the new series will be the 6500/250 and the 4400/200. Pre-installed software on the business line will include Microsoft Office, Norton Utilities, Now Up-To-Date and Contact, Jian BizPlan Builder, Macpublisher and others. The computers will also have a built-in fax modem, 12X CD-ROM, digital answering system and speakerphone. Apple Canada's agency, BBDO Canada of Toronto, said there are no immediate advertising plans for the new releases north of the border.
