Pinterest brings Pinterest TV to Canada

Social media website Pinterest has launched a new service in Canada called Pinterest TV, which debuted in the US last year. Pinterest TV takes the form of a live and interactive shopping service. It is intended to allow brands, publishers and creators to showcase products so users can buy them via the retailer’s website. The presentation includes prices and product details, availability announcements, brand collaborations, a remaining inventory counter and a the ability of offer limited-time discounts.

Pinterest TV will launch in Canada with an original content effort called “Shop the Holidays.” It will feature Canadian and international brands that have already been successful on the site. The launch of includes a combined 40 hours of live, original and shoppable programming that will run from Nov. 15 to 18, focusing on gift ideas for the holiday season.

“On Pinterest, shopping is about inspiration and, over time, we expect to make every product that a user encounters on Pinterest shoppable,” said Nadine Zylstra, global head of programming and original content at Pinterest. “Pinterest TV is the next iteration of our vision to enhance shopping surfaces and help Pinners find the products they’re looking for. We have become the home of digital-taste-based shopping and Pinterest TV makes this experience even more personal.”
