CHUM MAY START VANCOUVER TV STATION

The TV wars could be heating up in Vancouver. CHUM Ltd. of Toronto is applying for a license to operate a Vancovuer station modelled after its Citytv channel in Toronto. Approval by the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission could start a ratings war between WIC Western International Communications' BCTV and CanWest Global Communications' U.TV. CHUM also runs two Vancouver radio stations, as well as the MuchMusic and Bravo TV stations
