VIA TRAVELS NEW TRACK

Last week, Montreal-based VIA Rail Canada launched an Internet booking system known as Via Resernet interactive. The system is accessible through VIA's existing Web site. In addition to booking seats, customers can use VIA's site to print VIA pamphlets, timetables and information on promotional offers. Guy Faulkner, VIA's channels and distribution systems and marketing director, told Adnews the company will begin advertising the new service in April, using a mix of on-line ads and print executions in Internet trade publications. Faulkner said mainstream print ads may also run. In addition, VIA's Web site and Resernet will be promoted through VIA's traditional advertising. Publicite Martin Inc. of Montreal handles VIA's advertising.
