COMPUTER PROMOTION TO HELP SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS
By Adnews Staff
Patriot Computer Corporation of Toronto and software manufacturer Corel Corporation of Ottawa teamed up with the Children's Miracle Network's foundations to launch a national program that benefits both schools and hospitals this week. Called Computers 4 Kids, the arrangement would see Patriot donate $50 from every Patriot computer purchased to the Children's Miracle Network. The donation would be made in the name of one of the network's corporate sponsors, which are distributing point-of-purchase material for the promotion. Some sponsors are Dairy Queen, Fundy Cable, TD Bank, Air Atlantic, Pharmasave and Atlantic Wholesalers. In addition, each computer purchased comes with a coupon that can be given to a local school. With the redemption of 15 coupons, a school will be awarded a free Patriot computer system, complete with Corel software. Miller Williams Interactive Advertising, Inc. of Toronto is handling PR for the campaign. The agency is also producing direct mail pieces that will be sent out to schools. A second phase of the Computers 4 Kids promotion incorporating national TV and additional print support will kick off in April.
