Corby readies Monkey 47 promotion

Corby Spirit and Wine has begun a promotion for its Monkey 47 Gin to coincide with the brand’s 10th anniversary. During the promotion, the company will sell six variants of empty gin bottles to raise funds for endangered primate species. Each of the bottles will display the image of an endangered primate in place of the monkey that usually appears on the brand’s label. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature. The bottles will be sold online at <http://www.monkeykiosk.com> beginning May 29.

“We admit it’s an unconventional concept,” said Aoife O’Reilly, Canadian brand manager for Monkey 47 at Corby. “It’s sad to sell an empty bottle, but the premise behind it is anything but. As much as we understand how treasured its usual contents are, we do plan to leave these six different editions unfilled. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those willing to buy an empty bottle. It takes a brave soul to forgo your favourite gin.”
