Corus, Complex Network form content agreement

Corus Entertainment of Toronto has formed an agreement with US-based media company Complex Networks to act as the brand’s exclusive Canadian advertising sales representative. Corus will also license content from Complex Networks to distribute on its linear and on-demand services. This content is aimed primarily at male viewers between the ages of 18 and 24. Corus and Complex Networks will also collaborate on the production of new original localized content for the US and Canada.

In related news, Corus has expanded its agreement with social media company Twitter by launching a branded content program called Twitter Originals. The content will be developed by So.da, the in-house social media agency of Corus. Corus has also launched a new content series called So.da Originals that will run on its own properties.

“We continue to see explosive growth in the social and digital space,” said Dervla Kelly, senior vice-president of marketing at Corus. “Last year our content was viewed over six billion times, with over 1.5 billion minutes watched. While you can pay for reach, you cannot pay for engagement, and we are investing deeply to ensure we bring massive scale, along with incredibly engaged audiences, to our advertisers.”
