Nurses ready social media campaign

A group of Canadian nursing associations is preparing a social media campaign called “Hey Nurse.” The initiative encourages consumers to submit thank you messages to nurses and to tell personal stories about nurses on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. The campaign is timed to coincide with National Nursing Week, which will take place from May 8 to 14. It is intended to highlight the work nurses do to in the Canadians healthcare system.

Participating organizations include the Alberta Association of Nurses, the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba, the Canadian Nurses Association, the Association of Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC, the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario and WeRPN.

“Nurses are there every step of the way for Canadians, selflessly delivering care with knowledge and compassion,” said Doris Grinspun, CEO of the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario. “The ‘Hey Nurse’ campaign invites the public to thank a nurse or group of nurses for making a difference in their lives. As the professional association representing more than 50,400 registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nursing students in Ontario, RNAO is proud to be part of this campaign and looks forward to hearing from the public about how a nurse has impacted them.”
