McDonald's readies McHappy Day promotion

McDonald's Canada will conduct its 26th annual “McHappy Day” promotion on May 8. One dollar from each purchase of a Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot beverage will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada and other local children's charities. This year, consumers can also purchase merchandise from a collection called the “McHappy Day x Peace Collective” collection at participating restaurants, with the proceeds going to the same charities. The promotion will be supported with social media activities featuring the participation of personalities including Kaitlyn Bristowe, Kevin Wendt and Fred VanVleet.

“Every 20 minutes, a family arrives on the doorsteps of a Ronald McDonald House or Family Room across the country in need of support,” said Cathy Loblaw, president and CEO of RMHC Canada. “Funds raised on McHappy Day go directly towards helping these families stay close to their sick child while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital, and making their difficult journey a little easier.”
