Air Canada sponsors 4Ocean

Air Canada has begun an initiative with 4Ocean, a company that specializes in removing trash from oceans and coastlines. Air Canada will be the exclusive Canadian airline sponsor of these activities. In addition, employees of the company will participate in 2019 clean-up activities in North America. Air Canada will also eliminate the plastic coverings on its in-flight amenity kits in order to reduce the amount of plastic waste created.

“A key target of Air Canada's corporate waste strategy is our single-use plastics reduction program,” said Teresa Ehman, senior director of environmental affairs at Air Canada. “Our partnership with 4ocean as the exclusive Canadian airline is a great fit with this journey and we are especially delighted with the opportunity to engage our employees in our communities. There are many Air Canada employees who care deeply about sustainability and the environment who are keen to make a difference in actively help reduce ocean plastic pollution.”
