OpenTable begins Dining Mode campaign

Toronto-based restaurant booking service OpenTable has begun a Mother’s Day campaign called “Dining Mode.” The campaign encourages consumers to refrain from checking their mobile devices while dining out. The effort involves the participation of 70 restaurants nationally. The campaign includes a set of downloadable conversation topics to take the place of phone usage, as well as an online video.
“We discovered that 74% of diners use their phone at the table while eating with others,” said Caroline Potter, chief dining officer at OpenTable. “By going into ‘Dining Mode’ this Mother's Day, diners will have the opportunity to focus their attention on the mom in their lives and connect over a fabulous meal.”
