Skittles readies Last Minute Gift Shop

Candy company Mars Canada is preparing a holiday season promotion for its Skittles brand called the "Last Minute Gift Shop." The temporary retail location will open in downtown Toronto on Dec. 24 at 11:59PM and will close one hour later. The store will contain 60 Skittles-themed gifts for consumers who have put off their holiday shopping until the last minute. The items will be distributed to the first 60 consumers in line when the store opens. The promotion will also feature an online store at <http://www.skittleslastminute.ca> which will also open at 11:59PM on Dec. 24, but which will remain open for only one minute. Visitors to the site will receive digital coupons for discounts on Skittles candy. The site is also hosting an online game in the pre-launch phase.
"Skittles recently uncovered that not every Canadian completes their holiday shopping in advance, with many waiting until the last minute to pick up that special gift," said Michelle Lefler, corporate affairs director at Mars Wrigley Confectionery Canada. "The Skittles team is celebrating those that hold out with the first ever Skittles Last Minute Gift Shop. We're opening our doors quite literally during the final minute of Christmas Eve, where procrastination is celebrated with an extra twist of holiday of cheer."
