Lightspeed acquires ReUp

Lightspeed, a Montreal-based point-of-sale and electronic commerce technology company, has acquired Toronto-based loyalty program operator ReUp. The company will adapt ReUp's system to launch a new service called Lightspeed Loyalty, intended to allow merchants to develop customized loyalty programs. The service will be aimed primarily at retail stores and restaurants. It makes use of a mobile application to handle loyalty points management and consumer communications.

"Retailers and restaurants have always aimed to offer customers a superior level of service, and Lightspeed Loyalty allows them to take that service to the next level," said Dax Dasilva, CEO of Lightspeed. "We're providing these businesses with the tools to break down barriers, thus fostering strong customer relationships, driving repeat visits and increasing revenues, no matter the season."
