SCOTIABANK REVAMPS RRSP PLANNER
By Adnews Staff
Scotiabank has improved its personalized RRSP planning tool, known as Reality Check, for 1997. The program lets people know how much money they must save to meet their retirement lifestyle plans. Based on peoples' current savings patterns, Reality Check will generate an eight-page retirement income report predicting a retirement income shortfall or surplus. Improvements on the new Reality Check include: allowing people to consider non-RRSP assets when calculating their retirement income, a link to Scotiabank's Investor Selector service that will generate an investment portfolio to help reach a person's desired retirement income and a Reality Check hotline. Reality Check can be accessed over the Internet, by calling the hotline, or by picking up a questionnaire at a Scotiabank branch and faxing the completed form to the bank. The service will be promoted through national print and television advertising. The TV spots will begin airing Jan.11. Also appearing will be a one-hour special on the Global Television Network, featuring families across Canada and their financial concerns. The print ads will appear shortly after the start of the TV campaign. Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto handled the ads. The show was produced by It Works! Productions, also of Toronto.
