Torstar forms content deal with Wall Street Journal

Torstar of Toronto has reached an agreement with The Wall Street Journal by which articles from that newspaper will appear in Torstar daily newspapers and websites nationally beginning June 12. Also on that day, the Toronto Star will debut a new print and online initiative called Star Business Journal that will specialize in business, economy, technology and stock market news coverage. The company is also planning to introduce a digital subscription service that will feature a larger number of Wall Street Journal articles and newsletters.

Additional newspapers that will carry Wall Street Journal content will include The Hamilton Spectator, the Waterloo Region Record, the St. Catharines Standard, the Niagara Falls Review, the Welland Tribune, the Peterborough Examiner and StarMetro papers in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Halifax and Toronto.

"The world of business is becoming increasingly global and this exclusive partnership with The Wall Street Journal offers our customers, particularly aspiring and established business leaders, a unique and informative perspective on news they can use," said John Boynton, president of Torstar. "This collaboration with The Wall Street Journal is an important element in Torstar's overall transformation initiative."
