Soil Conservation Council resumes Soil Your Undies promotion

The Soil Conservation Council of Canada is preparing to resume a promotion called "Soil Your Undies." The effort is timed to coincide with National Soil Conservation Week, beginning April 15. The campaign encourages consumers to bury a pair of cotton undergarments to check the health of the soil in their yards. Given healthy soil, the garments should decay after several months. The effort includes step-by-step instructions at <http://www.soilcc.ca> as well as social media activities. The initiative is being conducted in association with undergarments company Stanfield's.

"We were blown away by the response to the national launch of Soil Your Undies last year," said council chair Alan Kruszel. "We take the task of advocating for Canada's soils seriously, but it was a lot of fun to show Canadians just how alive healthy soils are through this entertaining citizen science experiment, and we are eager to do it again. Once again, Stanfield's is partnering with us on the 'Soil Your Undies' initiative. We soiled many pairs of tighty whities from coast-to-coast last year and we are excited to bring the Canadian clothing company on board in 2018 as the official underwear sponsor yet again."
