Soil Conservation Council begins Soil Your Undies campaign
By Adnews Staff
The Soil Conservation Council of Canada has resumed its annual “Soil Your Undies” campaign for a third year. The initiative is intended to raise awareness of issues related to soil health. The campaign encourages consumers to bury a pair of white cotton underwear for several months, then dig them up and report their condition online at <http://www.soilcc.ca>. The promotion is timed to coincide with National Soil Conservation Week, which will run from April 21 to 27.
“National Soil Conservation Week is the best way to create awareness around soil health and conservation in Canada,” said Tim Nerbas, chair of the organization. “It may not cross your mind often, but soil is a big deal. Soil is where we make our living. It sustains our communities. It grows our food. It even cleans our air and water and supports biodiversity. Together, we can improve soil health, we can bring the benefits of soil to all Canadians and we can strengthen our role as a world leader in soil conservation.”
