FAMOUS PLAYERS OPENS 500TH SCREEN

Famous Players Inc. celebrated its 500th Canadian screen this week with the opening of the Famous Players 8 theater in Burlington, Ont. As part of the celebrations, the company will be giving away year-long passes to the 500th customer at each of its 107 Canadian locations on Dec. 14. Famous Players has expanded its Canadian operations considerably this year. Over the last 12 months, new theaters have opened in Calgary and Moncton, as well as in London and Burlington. By 1998, the company hopes to have 750 screens in operation. Marshall Fenn Communications of Toronto is handling PR for the opening of the 500th screen
