U.S.-based Compaq Computer Corp. added two new computers worldwide to its line of Armada notebook machines this week. Called the 1130 and 1130T, both machines feature 120MHz Pentium-based processors, as well as additional memory, storage capabilities and screen enhancements. They have 16 MB of extended EDO RAM, 1.08 gigabyte hard drives and 10.4 inch SVGA monitors with 800 X 600 resolution. The 1130T uses a color thin-film transfer screen. The 1130 uses a dual scan color SVGA screen. In Canada, Compaq has extended its fall/winter promotion to include the new machines. Under the deal, customers who buy an Armada computer will receive a free Ositech Jack of Diamonds 28.8 modem/ethernet PC card or eight megabytes of RAM. The promotion began in November and is being supported using a national print campaign created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto. New advertising plans for 1997 are currently under way
