Birks Group hires Cowan & Company

Montreal-based jewelery retailer Birks Group has retained Cowan & Company of Toronto as its public relations agency in Canada. The firm will work to raise awareness of the Birks brand. According to Cowan, the agency gained the account on the strength of the work it has done for clients including L'Oréal Paris Canada, Lancôme, Cara Operations and Jamieson Wellness.
In related news, Birks has appointed Geraldine Eckert to the position of senior manager of public relations. She was previously manager of media relations for Chanel in Canada.
