WestJet conducts Las Vegas promotion

Calgary-based airline WestJet recently conducted a promotion in support of its flights to Las Vegas. On a May 10 flight from Toronto to Las Vegas, the plane passed over an illuminated prize wheel installation one kilometer in diameter. The prize wheel displayed the seat number of a passenger on the flight. That passenger received a prize package including a trip to Las Vegas. WestJet conducted the promotion in collaboration with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The airline has released an online video depicting the event.

"WestJet turned 21 this year and, as the international airline that brings the most guests to Las Vegas, we celebrated by lighting up the desert," said Rob Daintree, director of marketing at WestJet. "Inspired by the brilliance, energy and wonderful experiences Las Vegas provides, we created a unique event for our guests by flying over a radiant prize wheel. This experience had us successfully break two Guinness World Records, one for the 'greatest light output in a projected image' and one for the 'largest circular projection.'"
