KELLOGG BEAMS IN STAR TREK CEREAL BOXES
By Adnews Staff
Kellogg Canada of Toronto introduced limited-edition Star Trek cereal boxes earlier this month to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary. The boxes feature images of legendary Star Trek characters including Captain James T. Kirk, the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise and Captain Benjamin Sisko of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The characters are seen on boxes of Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies and Mini-Wheats. The boxes also provide information on how fans can order their own collector's edition Star Trek TEC-Card, a telephone entertainment card which allows the user to make long distance phone calls and to get updates on the stars of Star Trek. All of the back panels offer Star Trek Trivia Cards. To promote the Star Trek boxes, Kellogg added tags to the end of existing TV commercials for its cereals. The ads were created by Leo Burnett Company of Toronto.
