HEART AWARD GIVEN TO TWO RECIPIENTS

The 1996 Paul Mulvihill Heart Award was presented this week to MCTV president and CEO George Lund and posthumously to former McKim Advertising president Jim Anderson. Lund spearheaded the creation of Science North in Sudbury in the early 1980s and resurrected Sudbury's Snowflake Festival. He is fundraising chair for the YMCA Centre for Life Campaign, is commissioner on Ontario's Health Services Restructuring Commission, a director with Air Ontario and a member of the Rusty Blakey Heritage Aviation Association. Anderson passed away on May 29, 1996. He served on the board of governors of Ryerson Polytechnic University. He was involved with Junior Achievement of Canada, established an annual scholarship for the CAAP education and served the Advertising Standards Council of the Canadian Advertising Foundation. Anderson was also director and chairman of the Institute of Canadian Advertising, served as a national board member of the Arthritis Society and was chair of the Communications Committee for five years. At the time of his death, he was within a few months of completing a two-year term as chairman of the Board of the Society. Each year, a donation of $5,000 is made in the recipient's name to the charitable organization of their choice. Lund selected the YMCA Centre For Life Campaign. The donation for Anderson was made to the Arthritis Society. The Paul Mulvihill Heart Award was established in memory of Paul Mulvihill in 1988. He was a founding member of the Broadcast Executives Society and the Canadian Association of Broadcast Representatives.
