Dairy Farmers of Canada readies Cheese Rolling Festival

Dairy Farmers of Canada will conduct its annual Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival event in Whistler, BC on Aug. 15. This will be the eighth year of the initiative. During the festival, participants will compete to chase an 11-pound wheel of Boerenkaas cheese down a hill. One male and one female winner will each receive a wheel of the cheese and a Whistler season ski pass for two. The event will also include a costume contest, cheese seminars, recipe demonstrations, product sampling and other family activities. Consumers can also enter a draw for a weekend trip to Whistler at MarketPlace IGA grocery stores in British Columbia until July 30.
"Dairy Farmers of Canada is thrilled to bring this much-anticipated festival celebrating Canadian cheese back to Whistler," said Sandra Da Silva, assistant director of external communications for the organization. "It's such a great family event, with activities for everyone and, of course, delicious Canadian cheese everywhere you look."
