Canadian Produce Marketing Association signs endorsement agreement

The Ottawa-based Canadian Produce Marketing Association has signed television personality and chef Michael Smith as the spokesperson for its "Half Your Plate" campaign. Smith is the host of the Food Network Canada programs Chef Michaels Kitchen, Chef Abroad and Chef at Home. The "Half Your Plate" campaign, which was launched in January, encourages Canadians to eat more fruits and vegetables to improve their health. Smith will make his first appearance on behalf of the campaign on April 16 at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association convention and trade show in Montreal.

"We are thrilled to announce Chef Michael Smith's involvement with the campaign," said Ron Lemaire, president of the association. "Not only is he an excellent chef, we feel that he embodies the philosophy of the 'Half Your Plate' campaign. Together we will educate Canadians on how simple and affordable it is to incorporate a wide variety of fruits and vegetables into every meal and snack. We need to get families back in the kitchen preparing fresh and healthy meals, and Chef Michael is the perfect ambassador to inspire change."
