Travelzoo begins lucky name contest

Toronto-based Internet travel company Travelzoo Canada has begun a contest promotion, the five winners of which will will trips for two to Cuba. Consumers with one of five matching "lucky names" can enter by submitting a description of why they deserve a vacation this year. The contest is open to consumers with the names Jonathan Li, Michael Smith, Jennifer Clark, Elizabeth Martin and Victoria Brown. The contest will be open at <http://www.travelzoo.ca/luckynames> until Jan. 31.
According to the company, the contest is inspired by the story of a Canadian man who booked an around-the-world trip for himself and his then-girlfriend. When the couple broke up before the trip, he conducted a national search for someone with the same name as his former girlfriend to make use of the other ticket.
"We're always looking for ways to inspire our members to travel, and it's hard to beat a trip to one of Canada's favourite international destinations," said Jason Sarracini, vice-president and general manager of Travelzoo Canada. "Even if you don't have a lucky name, chances are, you know someone who does."
