Transport Canada begins drone awareness campaign

Transport Canada has begun a national campaign intended to raise awareness of safety issues relating to the use of unmanned air vehicles, often referred to as drones. The campaign, aimed at recreational and commercial users, has launched with a website at <http://www.tc.gc.ca/safetyfirst> that provides safety guidelines and information about what types of drone use require Transport Canada permission. A second phase will begin in the winter, involving social media advertising, online videos and a simplified application system.
"As Minister of Transport, it's my job to make sure we keep our skies safe for aircraft of all sizes," said Minister of Transport Lisa Raitt. "This campaign will help build awareness so that Canadians always think safety first and understand how to operate their drones safely and legally."
