Toyota Canada begins Dream Car Art Contest

Toronto-based automaker Toyota Canada has begun a promotion called the "Dream Car Art Contest." The contest is an annual international initiative that last year attracted approximately 600,000 entries from 70 countries.

The contest is open to parents of children under the age of 16. Children can enter by submitting a drawing on paper of their dream car. Submissions will be divided into three categories: under-eight, eight-to-11 and 12-to-15 years of age. Entries can be sent by mail until March 7, 2014.

In the Canadian stage of the contest, three finalists will be selected from each age group to proceed to the international competition. The nine finalists will also receive a seven-inch tablet computer. In the global stage, ten finalists from each age group will be selected. The finalists and their guardians will travel to Japan to attend the award ceremony later in 2014.

"It was wonderful last year to have Canada participate for the first time in this unique contest, and particularly exciting because we had a global finalist," said Seiji Ichii, president and CEO of Toyota Canada. "It's a fun way to see the innovation of young people from throughout Canada and to demonstrate to them that we believe in and support their dreams."
