Bic begins 40th anniversary promotion

Bic Canada has begun a promotion tied to the 40th anniversary of Bic Pocket Lighters being sold in this country. The promotion makes use of a new website at <http://www.flickyourbic.ca> and a component called the "Bic Flicktacular Contest" during which consumers are invited to submit original designs for lighter wraps. Submissions will be accepted from Dec. 6 to Feb. 7, 2014. Public voting will then run until March 13. This will determine 40 finalists, out of which eight winners will be selected to receive $1,000. Two randomly selected voters will also receive $1,000 prizes. The website and the contest were developed by Marketspace of Mississauga.

"This new website is a chance for us to share more about Bic with our Canadian fans and thank them for 40 years of flicks," said Veronica Espinosa, brand manager at Bic. "In addition to interesting history about Bic Lighters, the website will preview new designs and house contests"

The company has also released eight limited edition lighter designs as part of the promotion, recreating the style of the 1970s when the lighters were introduced.
