CIBC begins Human Foosball campaign

Toronto-based CIBC has begun a promotion aimed at post-secondary students called "Human Foosball" to coincide with the start of the school year. CIBC has tied the promotion to its sponsorship of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, of which it is the official Canadian bank. The company will conduct a series of events at college and university campuses in the Greater Toronto Area over the next two weeks. The events will take the form of six-on-six games of foosball involving human players in a large inflatable foosball table. Regular games of foosball will also be available. Consumers who sign up for a student account will also be entered into a draw for one of five prizes of $5,000. Consumers who post about the promotion on social media sites will be eligible for one of three foosball table prizes. The campaign began at the University of Toronto on Sept. 6 and will visit Ryerson University, Humber College, Centennial College, and York University before ending on Sept. 18.

"Inspired by the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup, CIBC Human Foosball is a unique opportunity for students to show their soccer skills and engage in the spirit of such a popular and exciting game with their peers," said Veni Iozzo, senior vice-president of marketing and strategy at CIBC. "These events are a fun way to kickstart another school year, while reminding students that it's important to think about managing your education costs and to be smart about your banking."
