Ace Bakery begins Canada's Best Sandwich Contest

Toronto-based Ace Bakery has resumed its "Canada's Best Sandwich Contest" promotion for a second year. Consumers can enter by submitting sandwich recipes to the company's website at <http://www.acebakery.com> until Sept. 24. The entries will be evaluated by Food Network personality Bob Blumer and blogger Julie Van Rosendaal of DinnerWithJulie.com. Four regional finalists from western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada will each receive $1,000 and have their sandwiches featured at the Ace Bakery Café in Toronto in October and November. The finalists will also travel to Toronto on Oct. 17 to prepare their recipes in front of a live audiences. The judging panel will then select a winner, who will receive $20,000. "Last year, Canadians really impressed us with the level of creativity and originality they brought to the table, but we know that was just the tip of the iceberg," said Marcus Mariathas of Ace Bakery. "This year, we've partnered with Bob Blumer for the Canada's Best Sandwich Contest 20th Anniversary Edition, and with even more on the line, we hope to inspire delicious and innovative recipes that deserve a spot in the limelight."
