Ace Bakery begins sandwich contest

Ace Bakery of Toronto has begun a promotion called the "Canada's Best Sandwich Contest." Consumers can enter by submitting sandwich recipes via the company's website at <http://www.acebakery.com> until May 24. Submissions will be judged by Ace and chef Lynn Crawford for taste appeal, creativity, innovation and originality. One finalist from each of western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada will win $1,000 and a $1,000 donation to their charity of choice. The finalists will also travel to Toronto for an event on June 22, where they will prepare their recipes in front of a live audience. A judging panel will then select the winner, who will receive an additional $5,000 and a $5,000 donation. "If you're new to creating recipes, sandwiches are a great place to start," said Linda Haynes, Ace Bakery co-founder. "Simply choose a combination of fresh ingredients that you love and start building. Also be sure to take risks, you never know what will taste great together."
