Passage: Luc Beauregard

Luc Beauregard, founding chairman of National Public Relations, died last Friday at the age of 71. Prior to founding National in 1976, Beauregard was the president and publisher of the daily newspaper Montréal-Matin. He began his career as a journalist La Presse in 1961. Beauregard was also the founding chairman of Montreal-based Res Publica Consulting Group, the holding company that owns National, Cohn & Wolfe Canada and Sonic Boom. He was president of the Canadian Public Relations Consultants Institute in 1979, president of the Canadian Public Relations Society in 1984 and chairman of the North American Public Relations Council in 1985. He became the founding chairman of Public Relations Without Borders in 2007. Beauregard was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 1996.
