The Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance has appointed John Tory to the position of co-chair. He will begin work on Sept. 1 with the intention of "revitalizing" the organization. Tory is the chair of CivicAction. The alliance is a public-private partnership that promotes the Greater Toronto Area to businesses. It consists of the 29 municipalities and regional governments in the are, the governments of Ontario and Canada, as well as a number of not-for-profit organizations and private corporations.
