Edelman opens Ottawa office

Edelman Canada has opened a new office in Ottawa, specializing in public affairs communications. The office will be headed by Darcy Walsh, senior vice-president and general manager for Ottawa. He was most recently national director of business development at Hill&Knowlton Ottawa. He was also director of parliamentary affairs in the Office of the Minister of Public Works.

"Edelman is setting new standards in the industry, helping clients promote, protect and evolve their brands," said Bob Richardson, executive vice-president and national public affairs practice lead at Edelman Canada. "For Ottawa, that means building a practice that goes beyond traditional government relations and lobbying. We are integrating public affairs with communications, creative and digital specialties to help clients take a more holistic approach to relationships with their audiences and stakeholders."

As part of an expansion of its public affairs practice, Edelman has hired Courtney Glen as vice-president of public affairs in Toronto. She was previously a senior consultant at StrategyCorp. Prior to that, she was deputy director of communications to Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory and a senior consultant at Navigator.

Paul Di Ianni has also joined the agency as a public affairs account director. He was most recently an external relations officer at the Ontario College of Teachers. He was also tour director for the Office of the Premier of Ontario and a legislative assistant to the Ontario Minister of Consumer Services.
