Labatt begins Iconic Canadian Town contest

Labatt has begun a promotion for its Labatt Blue beer brand. The promotion takes the form of a search for the 2012 "Labatt Blue Iconic Canadian Town." The company began by selecting Canadian 25 cities, then conducting an online survey to determine 10 finalists. From July 18 to Aug. 15, consumers can vote for a winning town at the brand's Facebook page. The winning town will receive an "Ultimate End of Summer Party" and a "Good Stuff Award" of $25,000 to benefit a local cause of community initiative. The eligible cities are Victoria, Charlottetown, St. Johns, Whitehorse, Regina, Saskatoon, Saint John, Thunder Bay, Fredericton and Moncton. "Labatt Blue is committed to recognizing and celebrating the communities, both big and small, that make up the fabric of our country," said Amy Rawlinson, marketing manager for the brand. "We wanted to give Canadians the opportunity to champion their hometown and have Labatt Blue reward them for their passion. The Good Stuff Award is our way of thanking Canadians for their commitment to their communities and for making Labatt Blue a Canadian tradition."
