The Toronto-based Insurance Bureau of Canada has redesigned its website at <http://getintheknow.ibc.ca> to emphasize its anti-fraud materials. The site contains social media features and information intended to help visitors understand the issue of insurance fraud and to recognize the signs associated with fraud. "Insurance fraudsters are very creative," said Rick Dubin, vice-president of investigative services at the bureau. "They will take advantage of unsuspecting consumers. Your best defence is a good offence, and being informed is a great defence. It is important to be aware of schemes, be informed about your personal information and accounts and be vigilant if something just doesn't seem right."
