Astral begins film marketing program

Astral Media has begun a marketing program tied to its Astral's Harold Greenberg Fund private film fund. The program is intended to promote Canadian film projects that have been featured in major international film festivals. The projects may or may not have a Canadian distributor, but must lack a foreign sales agent. Filmmakers are invites to submit plans for any type of marketing initiative. The fund will provide up to $10,000 to each selected project, intended to enable filmmakers to maximize the sales opportunities afforded by a major festival showing. "Often, we hear great stories about filmmakers who make it into major film festivals and, with little time and money, find incredibly creative ways to generate a lot of hype for their projects with filmgoers and distributors alike," said John Galway, the fund's English-language program president. "That is the kind of innovative spirit we want to support, and we want to share these stories which prove that, with creativity and resourcefulness, it is possible to make a big impact on a limited budget."
