IBM EXPANDS BUSINESS PC LINE-UP

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. added an entry-level business desktop computer last week to its 300 line of machines. Called the PC 340, the computer, which became available in North America last week, uses IBM's PC Networking Tools. The computer also comes with Lotus Smartsuite which includes a spreadsheet, word processor and Intel Proshare, which allows employees to work simultaneously on the same project, view each other's work, hold conferences, share applications and transfer data. In Canada, print advertising supports the launch of the product. It was created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto. IBM has also slashed the prices on its 300 and 700 family of computers by up to 15% in North America.
