Survey: Marketing hiring to increase

Toronto-based The Creative Group has released the results of a survey of the employment outlook for advertising and marketing professionals in the third quarter of 2010. According to the survey, 15% of respondents from the marketing and advertising sector plan to increase their staff levels in the next quarter, while two percent expect declines and 79% expect no change. This represents a seven percent increase from the projection of the previous quarter. Those respondents who are planning to hire new staff are most likely to hire web design and production personnel, followed by marketing research staff, brand managers, print designers and media services staff. "An improved economic environment has prompted many firms to enhance their digital or social media strategy, requiring additional resources to complete projects," said Lara Dodo, vice-president of The Creative Group's Canadian operations. "Often companies lack the internal talent necessary to leverage emerging opportunities and turn to creative professionals on a full-time or interim basis to implement growth strategies."
