Sponsorship roundup

BMW Group Canada of Whitby, ON has again signed-on as the exclusive vehicle sponsor of the RBC Canadian Open golf tournament. The tournament will take place from July 20 to 26 in Oakville, ON. As part of the sponsorship, players in the tournament will receive a BMW vehicle to use for the duration of the event. In addition, any player who makes a hole-in-one on the 15th hole will win a 2009 BMW Z4. A number of the company's cars will be on display. Spectators will also be offered rides from the parking lot to the golf course in BMW vehicles. Attendees who arrive at the course in a BMW will also have access to a special parking lot. The company will also conduct a contest on-site, the winner of which will receive a trip for two to the BMW Championship tournament in Chicago in September. "Our goal is to power excitement for BMW and the RBC Canadian Open through our on-site activation and online communications," said Kevin Marcotte, marketing director at BMW Canada. "We have developed multiple opportunities to surprise and delight customers, spectators and players throughout the championship, adding value to the overall championship experience."

Tree Brewing of Kelowna, BC has signed-on as a sponsor of the League of Rock, an organization that conducts workshops for amateur musicians. The brewery will supply beer to each participant in the league's Vancouver chapter after each rehearsal session. "This is a natural partnership for us," said Tod Melnyk, president of Tree Brewing. "There's always been a relationship between rock and roll and big cans, and now we're just making it official. All kidding aside, we take our beer seriously, and we think the League of Rock approaches music in the same way."
