Transcontinental Media of Montreal has constructed a new website called Weblocal.ca. The search site is for finding and reviewing local businesses, products and services in various Canadian communities. The site intends to rely on user-generated content, including ratings, reviews, pictures and video. Users can also access content from other Transcontinental websites. "With Transcontinental's established local sales force of over 400 representatives and its online portfolio of over 125 websites, we have an incredible opportunity to build a very meaningful and useful online resource for consumers and advertisers," said Marc Ouellette, senior vice-president of the newspaper group at Transcontinental. "With Weblocal.ca, we offer a unique platform for local businesses to increase their visibility, manage their business profile and share with their community." The site is a joint venture with YellowBot, a US-based local search company.
