DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE ACCOUNT

The federal Department of Finance has its account up for grabs. The agency chosen will be responsible for advertising Canada Savings Bonds as well as producing ads focusing on budget issues, for the next three years. Deadline for letters of intent is July 12. The incumbent agencies are The Gingko Group of Toronto for English Canada, and Groupe Everest Communication and Marketing Consultants of Montreal has been handling the French Market. This is the first competition using the federal government's Open Bidding Service which went into effect June 1. Agencies interested in competing for federal government accounts must subscribe to this service. Accounts up for grabs are listed by the government on a computer file which can be accessed by subscribing agencies. A weekly hard copy notice is also beigfn sent out. The main difference from the system that was used before the Open Bidding Service was instituted is that the government no longer anounces agency competitions with ads in business and trade publications.
