Visa begins Olympics of the Imagination contest

Visa Canada has launched a contest tied to its sponsorship of the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing called the "Visa Olympics of the Imagination." The contest takes the form of an art competition for children between the ages of 10 and 14. Entrants must submit a hand-drawn piece of original artwork that represent the history and values of the Olympics. Four winners from Canada will join 26 other international winners at the Olympic Games in Beijing later this year. These winners will also compete with each other for a trip to the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010. The contest, which is being conducted in association with the Canadian Olympic Committee, will run until April 4. "Through this unique program, Canadian children can exercise their artistic creativity while exploring how different countries are united through the Olympic Games," said Brenda Woods, vice-president of marketing at Visa Canada. "As a committed supporter of the Olympic Movement, we are delighted to once again give Canadian children the chance to be a part of the excitement of the Olympic Games through the VOI competition." Visa has conducted similar contests in conjunction with the Olympic Games since 1994.
