NADbank releases selected markets study

Toronto-based NADbank released its 2006/07 Readership Study for Selected Markets. The study includes data on newspaper readership in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa-Gatineau from the fall of 2006 and the spring of 2007. According to the result, newspaper readership is stable in these markets, with newspapers reaching approximately 50% of Canadian adults on an average weekday and 75% in an average week. Online readership has increased, according to the study, with 20% of adults reading online in Toronto in a week, 15% in Montreal and 22% in Ottawa-Gatineau. On an average day in Toronto, 23% of adults read the Star, 11% The Sun, 9% The Globe and Mail, 9% Metro, 8% 24 Hours and 5% the National Post. In Montreal, 21% read Le Journal, 15% La Presse, 11% The Gazette, 11% Metro and 8% 24 Heures. In Vancouver, 26% read The Sun, 24% The Province, 12% 24 Hours, 7% Metro, 5% The Globe and 4% the Post. In Ottawa-Gatineau, 28% read the Citizen, 14% The Sun, 10% Le Driot, 6% Metro and 6% The Globe.
