GEE, JEFFERY QUITS SPORTS BUSINESS
By Adnews Staff
Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising of Toronto and Sporting Life have parted ways after three years. Officials at Sporting Life were unavailable Friday to comment on how advertising will be handled in the future. Gee, Jeffery made the move because "we have a difference of opinion on the strategic direction that Sporting Life's advertising should take, and feel that a new agency would be better suited to execute the direction that Sporting Life wishes to follow," an agency release says. Gee, Jeffery added TV and billboards to the advertising efforts of the trendy sporting goods retailer. The agency also dressed up the outsides of Sporting Life's two stores with wall murals. Gee, Jeffery is third agency since 1989 to work for Sporting Life which spends about $1 million a year on advertising.
