Mood Disorders Association of Ontario conducts campaign

The Mood Disorders Association of Ontario is conducting a campaign called “Check up from the neck up” in an effort to de-stigmatize and raise awareness of mood disorders. The media and public relations campaign directs people to a website located at <http://www.checkupfromtheneckup.ca> for information. The campaign also makes use of radio advertising and audio/visual materials at the Rogers Centre, on transit platforms, at Esso gas stations and at various Ontario convenience stores. “This extraordinary public awareness and education campaign, now rolled out throughout the province of Ontario, serves the laudable purpose of promoting mental health with the same openness and vigor with which Canadians desire physical health,” said Karen Liberman, executive director of the association. “The website is neither a diagnostic test nor a form of treatment. It simply encourages Canadians to talk about something that has been too long shrouded in secrecy.” Media for the campaign was handled by Media Dimensions. Public relations are being conducted by Robin Harvey.
