Canada.com, Google form search and advertising deal

CanWest Interactive, operator of the website Canada.com, has entered a multi-year agreement with search engine company Google. The deal will provide Canada.com with search capabilities, content and search-related advertising, while Google's advertisers will gain access to Canada.com's audience. The Canada.com group of sites includes Driving.ca, Remembering.ca and Working.com. Google's AdSense program delivers to Web users advertising related to search terms and page content. Revenue from ads served will be shared by Canada.com and Google. "Our goal is to partner with tier-one companies to deliver the most innovative and effective offerings for both consumers and advertisers," said Arturo Duran, president of interactive and business integration at CanWest MediaWorks Publications, the parent of CanWest Interactive. "Partnering with the world's best known search engine underscores this commitment, helping us to both grow our revenue base and maintain our position as Canada's leading online destination for news and information."
