CLEARNET HOOKS UP WITH TAXI
By Adnews Staff
Clearnet Communications of Pickering, Ont. has hired Taxi Advertising & Design in Toronto. The agency will handle advertising for the business communications network Clearnet plans to launch in mid-1996, as well as for the personal communications service scheduled for start-up in 1997. Taxi won the account in a competition with three other agencies. The business communications network is based on a cellular phone which can be used as a pager, fax machine and two-way radio. The personal communications system uses phones that are lower powered than cellular models. They are also smaller, lighter and cheaper. They must be used within 100 metres of a small base station which relays calls locally or internationally. The phones can be used in offices, homes and public locations such as malls, but not in moving vehicles.
