FASHION SHOWS ON THE NET
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) is trying to make its industry more electronic. The umbrella association for the Canadian rag trade is prompting its members to subscribe to a Web site run by ATnet Information Services of New York. The Apparel and Textile Network <http:/www.at-net.com> is billed as a worldwide electronic trade show and information centre for the apparel and textile industry. It permits subscribing retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers to meet with each other, exchange information, and display and view each others products - without leaving their factories or offices. In addition, the site is also a news service carrying fashion-related stories from around the world. Currently there are over 500 members from 30 countries using the service, including 40-odd Canadian manufacturers. The CAF organized a photography session in Montreal in March to shoot fashions for the Web site. It will run another photo shoot for manufacturers in Toronto at the end of May, and then will start a push to sign retailers up for the site.
